Westminster is now the home for the Hispanic Seventh Day Adventist New Church Development Group.  The new church will be using our building on Wednesday evenings, Friday evenings, and Saturdays.
Please coordinate with the church office (Dawn), (334) 281-2241, if you need to have access to our building on any days other than Sunday.

Session of Westminster Presbyterian Church

2515 Woodley Rd., Montgomery, AL   36111
July 15, 2013

Dear Westminster Congregation,http://www.google.com

Session members ask for your continued prayers as we discern God's will for our church.  We have some important decisions before us as a congregation.  First and foremost is to seek to answer this question:  “WHERE IS THE LORD LEADING WESTMINSTER?”  We ask that you join the members of the session with individual and corporate prayers for Westminster Church to seek God’s calling.  We must seek God’s presence and guidance first spiritually in order to make decisions about our future.

At our congregational meeting on July 7, we heard from you a theme of greater communication as well as looking forward.  Please find attached a copy of the latest financial statement as well as the minutes from the last three Session meetings with our apologies that you have not had the opportunity to review them before now.  We realize that you need this information to help with your own discernment and suggestions for our future.  Our attendance is down significantly.  Many and varied initiatives over the last three years have not yielded new members.  As a matter of fact, we have lost a number of members over the last few years.  We need your energy and wisdom as we face some harsh realities and seek to discern God’s will for our church.

The dilemmas before us include the following:

·         Our average attendance is dramatically down and continues to decrease.  We often  have only 40 members in worship on Sunday morning – including the choir.

·         As of July 7, we have no pastor.

·         We have no children, teens, or young adults in our congregation.

·         Mission work has not been focused.

·         Our church facility continues to be in need of cleaning, updating and major repairs.

·         Other

While we recognize that there are many blessings in our Church, it is critical that we seek to discern God’s will for our church and congregation as we make informed – even if difficult – decisions about our future.  Fresh blessings include the SDA’s offer of assistance as we clean and refresh our building; calling tree available very soon; and excellent volunteers within our church for current work at hand.  We look forward to hearing your thoughts and responses.  We leave you with this reality:  if we keep doing the same thing, we will keep getting the same results.  What we’ve done hasn’t yielded the results any of us want for our beloved Church.  We ask you to be here when you can for services and events.  We ask you to consider what part you can do to increase your witness in your circle of influence and participate in the ministry of our church.  What do you need to see and experience at your church in order to invite your friends and neighbors?  Presbyterians have earned a reputation as strong willed; this is a great time to demonstrate our enduring dedication to our risen Lord and life together.  May God richly bless our lives and ministry together. Thank you for your commitment to Westminster and our service to Christ.
